FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Altough a great success among critics Battlestar Galactica is not exactly healthy at the end of it's 2nd season. Rumours of cancelation float above the producers. Now an unexpected player joins the Colonial Fleet and let the fans breath a little. Not only there will be a 3rd season, but there'll be also lots of money, "no script will be rejected because it's too expensive, says George Lucas".
Lucasfilm will use BSG as a test ground for their own scifi series, scheduled to air late 2007. "Galactica is not a guinea pig, think of it as a fellow explorer. Together we will extend the limits of televised Science Fiction".
George Lucas will address personally the problems that made Galactica lost most of it's fan base. Actually he already knows the answer.
"Kids love fighting ships, we need more dogfights, less gruesome deaths and more special FX. I don't know why Six can't turn into a Metalic Cylon under a stress situation."
"Also", the director/producer says, "we need more fun. Studing the fan internet groups, I saw many people claiming the series is too dull. Nobody smiles or crack a joke here and there. We need a comic relief, some character to light up the mood. I'll not only do that, but will use one of my own characters. For the first time a Star Wars well-known character will appear on another show, as himself."
"We don't know if it will be a spacetime rift, time travel or some other fenomenon, but he'll live among the crew, and even be comissioned as a Raptor pilot."
Some fans who had access to first-hand material showed concern. Lucas dismisses the worry.
"The series is not written in stone. Everything can change. Starbuck is a gal, they told me. Also I'll get rid of Baltar. He already commited treason, he has no further dramatic use".
Ron Moore, former executive producer and writer were not found to comment the new developments. There's a first-hand publicity shot showing the new recurring character at this link.
